Young analogue of FeedBurner - FeedCat

    Some bloggers, including me , are fed up with FeedBurner - that's a fact. Tired of its freezes, incomprehensible failures in subscribers, unhealthy glitches and general slowdown. However, they pricked, but chewed, because there is no alternative. Rather, it was not. Meet - FeedCat!

    Let's find out in order what the service can do. I saw him just a couple of minutes before I started writing this post. Therefore, we will meet on the fly, and you, if you are not into scrap, help me

    test it :) Today FeedCat is a young project in the Beta stage, however, it can now provide all the basic functions of FeedBurner, i.e. Count the number of subscribers and show you statistics.

    The only critical difference, for me, is the inability to customize the appearance of the icon, with the number of subscribers.

    Another important point, if we started with the minuses, which confused me - this call this counter via JS is unclear why (it’s more true, but the usual Ctrl + R rule). Killed JS - left a picture and a link to the feed.

    There is also a cant with the fact that the reader does not always accept a link that appears at the counter as a valid RSS feed. Apparently the creators of the service in the subject, because they made an additional link, format xml.feedcat.net/wolotko , when it usually looks like feed.feedcat.net/wolotko . On the last page there is a link to the first, i.e. feed makes it possible to switch to xml.

    For some SEO owners who are screaming about monetizing their feed through Adsense, a bummer happens - naturally Adsense is not there.

    Well, and as a final chord - there is no support for the Russian language, although I think this is a temporary phenomenon. And personally, I will do my best as an active tester. It’s curious.

    Now let me list you the main buns :)
    • there is a Ping service, it is issued to you individually in your profile;
    • the diagram of subscribers is essentially no different from FeedBurner'a - so the discomfort during the transition, if someone decides, will be a little less;
    • the ability to specify the frequency of recounting the number of feed readers. From weekly to hourly - which is extremely thematic;
    • there is an opportunity to add feed tags - this is a reserve for the future social component of the service, not otherwise;
    • You can redirect subscribers from a feed that feeds FeedCat to any other feed, for example FeedBurner;
    • You can select the skin for this page: feed.feedcat.net/wolotko;

    Feature:
    By default, the service pulls the FeedBurner feed, so when switching or duplicating counters, set the feed addresses of your engine, not FeedBurner. It is important.

    This is essentially all. What else does a novice blogger need? It seems to me that such a set is more than sufficient.

    I want to post this counter at home, and if it suits me I will use it.

    Well, actually - try it yourself - http://www.feedcat.net/
