Lowering the threshold of duty-free purchases abroad to 150 euros is called into question

On Habré Geektimes many times discussed the imminent reduction of the threshold of duty-free online trading to 150 euros. The fact that such a threshold will be lowered has been known for a long time, and it was believed that the threshold of 150 euros has already been approved.

However, the amount of duty-free purchases in the online store is still under discussion in the government, and it seems that the threshold will still be higher. In any case, today there is news that the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation plans to make a threshold above 150 euros, but below 1000 euros. In addition, the issue of lowering the amount of duty-free purchases can generally be removed from the agenda.

Unfortunately, the exact amount is still unknown, and until the situation clears up, you will have to wait a few more days.

A few days ago it became known that Vice-President Igor Shuvalov instructed departments to prepare materials for canceling the lowering of the duty-free threshold for goods purchased abroad. These materials should be prepared before the end of this week.

In addition, on October 30, the government will discuss the issue of canceling the reduction in the duty-free price of parcels, as well as (if this reduction is not canceled at all) a new threshold for duty-free purchase of goods abroad.

It seems that the government decided to take a business approach to this issue, and, finally, analyzed in detail the statements of the Ministry of Finance about the loss of income of 20 billion rubles from foreign purchases of citizens and legal entities, as a result of the high threshold of duty-free purchases.

Now the government has indicated that this fact is insignificant, it is also indicated that the customs does not get the prescribed duties at the current threshold.
