Back to the future: Megamind returns to Habrahabr
Three months later , Megamind appeared , concentrating around itself everything that somehow relates to management, management and marketing in IT, as well as start-ups.
Thus, we divided Habrahabr into three highly specialized resources, each of which covered a specific area of interest for our users: Habr - programming and development, GT - space, science, gadgets, entertainment and other topics, MM - business and management.
But time goes on and everything changes, and the world of development and programming, and indeed the Internet, is developing with great speed. Looking at what is happening at Megamind, it became obvious to us that in the modern vertically integrated world of information technology, where Amazon is no longer an online store, and Apple is about to start producing cars, we cannot actually share the development and its management, since often these things are not just interconnected, but inseparable.
With joy, excitement, but at the same time with some relief, we announce the release of a new iteration of Habr!
The updated "Habrahabr" are at once two important changes. Let's talk about each in order.
Megamind - part of Habr
The Megamind project from today ceases to exist as a separate resource and integrates with Habr. All publications with comments move to the corresponding hubs, remaining available to all users. In fact, there was a “merger and acquisition” transaction: management and marketing topics will now receive more attention from the audience, and we will closely monitor the quality of publications. Considering that there are many among you whose professional interests cover both the Habr and MM topics, the merger of projects will be very useful.
New hub structure
However, we have slightly updated the categorization of publications. From now on, all hubs are distributed according to the so-called “flows” - thematic categories, each of which covers a certain area. There are currently five threads:
- Development
- Design
- Control
- Marketing
- Miscellaneous
Inside the streams are your usual hubs that you can subscribe to - everything is as usual.
In connection with this innovation, part of the content on Habré will be restructured: some publications will fall into streams other than the "Development".
The choice of flow is carried out at the stage of writing or editing publications. But do not forget that the stream, like the hubs, sets the theme and tone of your publication. It treats them with all seriousness.
And what about Geektimes?
The Geektimes project does not lose its independence and continues to exist and develop separately as a popular science and technical, in the sense of gadgets, resource. That, by the way, does not exclude the possibility of the next move of some hubs from it back to the Habr.
Something else?
The last detail: earlier it was possible to vote for publications and the karma of other users with a value of their own karma ≥ 10.
We lowered this value to 5 - so it will be easier for beginners to vote. However, it is still impossible to vote positively for users karma without published publications.
All Startups are moving to Habrahabr, and we will ensure that they meet the stringent requirements of the community. Corporate blogs will also relocate with expiration. And, of course, we will continue to consider applications for the Startup blog for the most interesting projects that have submitted applications for Geektimes or Habrahabr.
These innovations are only part of what we want to do this year. And much of the planned will be realized thanks to your constructive criticism, reasonable wishes and reasonable proposals. Follow our announcements.
