RuSSIR 2015: article submission deadline approaching

    On August 24-28, 2015, the 9th Russian Summer School on Information Retrieval “ RuSSIR 2015 ” will be held in St. Petersburg . This year the school will be organized by the Internet Research Laboratory of the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg and the Russian seminar on the evaluation of information search methods “ ROMIP ”.

    Each year, RuSSIR has its own special topic, one way or another related to information retrieval. This year, the main theme of the summer school is the analysis of social networks . Read below about how many days you have left before submitting an article or applying for a course!

    Although the school is not soon, the article submission deadline is approaching - if you want to speak on RuSSIR and / or publish your work in the Springer CCIS series, it's time to hurry up! Articles and posters are accepted until April 20 inclusive (the site is still written on March 30, but I will exclusively announce for the Habr that the deadline has definitely been decided to extend until April 20); You can submit an article through EasyChair . Articles intended for the works of the summer school should be in English, formatted in Springer LNCS , with a length of not more than 12 pages. Although the main theme of the current RuSSIR will be the analysis of social networks, we will be glad to see good work on the entire spectrum of topics related to information retrieval:
    • IR and theory and models
    • Social networks and graph analysis
    • Crowdsourcing systems and social media
    • Data structures, algorithms, and indexing
    • Web search systems and web mining
    • Semantic Web and knowledge databases
    • Natural language processing

    You can submit not an article, but a poster, there the requirements are softer and you do not need to write so much text. And, of course, you can register and participate without any article, we will be glad to see you!

    Invited speakers - outstanding specialists in the field of analysis of social networks have already confirmed their participation:
    • Panos Pardalos (University of Florida, USA);
    • Santo Fortunato (Aalto University, Finland);
    • Andrey Raigorodsky (MIPT, MSU, Yandex);
    • Athanasios Migdalas (Lulea University of Technology, Sweden);
    • Athanasia Karakitsiou (Lulea University of Technology, Sweden).

    But invited speakers are not the whole program of the school. Soon there will be a deadline for applying for courses. If you have something to share with the participants of RuSSIR 2015, write a small application (2 pages) with the program and a brief description of the proposed course and submit it there, in EasyChair .

    Important : applications for the course are accepted until March 30 inclusive , no extension of the deadline is expected here.

    And for those potential participants who do not want to submit an article or read a course at school, we will also talk about what the final program turned out to be. Plan your trip to RuSSIR this year - it will definitely be interesting!
