How can a student have an up-to-date timetable, as well as elders and teachers send messages to the whole group at once
Disclaimer: We work at the “University Schedule” company , we make mobile applications (iOS, Android, Windows Phone), in which the curriculum of students and teachers is published.
The main function of our application, we consider the schedule. But in many universities it is believed that without the possibility of changing this schedule, showing the schedule is useless. You can edit the schedule through the web interface (this is easier to do), but it would be necessary to give the opportunity through mobile applications.
At first it seemed to us a relatively simple task. Further as usual. One of the obstacles was how to provide the opportunity to change the schedule not only to yourself, but at the same time not so much that you took it and to whom you want everything changed. At least, everyone always asked, “if any student is given the opportunity to change the schedule, then he will not change it in any way, indulge, hooligan?” And so on. There were many options, we settled on the fact that one student makes a change in his schedule and offers his classmates to change it as well (they automatically receive a push notification about the changed pair, what and who changed in it). They can agree, they can refuse.
This turned out to be difficult, and so far we have done it only on iOS, and on Android we are trying to do it for the New Year. What can I say, the mechanism is, in any case, controversial, we will carefully listen to user reviews. We can assume that they launched beta testing of editing the schedule and that - only on one platform.
Initially, we wanted to make messages only from teachers. Those. an authorized teacher can send a message to the whole group at once. Or to several groups. For example, those with whom he leads couples on a certain day. If he falls ill and will not be, then the teacher can choose the interval of dates on which he will not be, and send a message about this to all the groups for whom he conducts classes these days. Or you can send the task by setting a deadline by which it must be completed.
Then it became obvious that the function of sending messages is also needed by the elders, and possibly by other people at the university (for example, the trade union committee). Messages are sent unilaterally only by those authorized for this. So far, you can only receive confirmation via mail. Now available in the latest versions of the application on iOS and Android.
It is clear that messages need to be finished. Perhaps turn it all into general chats.
