The digest of interesting materials for the mobile # 83 developer (on December 8-14)

In the new digest, an interesting article about the creation of World of Tanks Blitz, a first look at the Apple Watch SDK, the release of Android Studio 1.0, some news about Google Cardboard, indoor navigation with iBeacon and many other useful materials.

Creation of World of Tanks Blitz based on DAVA's own engine

This story began more than three years ago. Our small company DAVA became part of Wargaming, and we began to think about what projects to do next. To remind you what the mobile was like three years ago, I’ll say that there were neither Clash Of Clans, Puzzle & Dragons, nor many of the very famous projects today. Mid-core was just beginning. The market was many times smaller than today.

First look at the Apple Watch SDK

Announced in June and just released, the Apple Watch SDK caused a lot of controversy and questions. The first version has limited functionality, and the release of version 2.0 is not far off, you need to wait a few more months. The developers have different impressions of the new SDK. Some are disappointed with the large number of restrictions, while others, on the contrary, are impressed by the fact of the exit. There is also a “layer” of those who accepted the new product quite restrained. But in any case, the vast majority of developers are happy to release a new interesting fun.

Pebble: working with static graphics using the example of creating a 7-segment watchface

All applications for Pebble watches are divided into two watchapp categories - just applications, and watchface - watch applications, which, based on the name, are the face of the device. The difference between the “faces” is the lack of reaction to the hardware buttons, as “UP” and “DOWN” are used to cycle through the installed watchface. But, probably, due to the low resolution of the screen 144x168 px, it’s rather difficult to find a watchface that fits in with the design of the watch, which at the same time performs its main function - counting the time.

Indoor navigation with iBeacon and ANN

Imagine that you have been set the task of implementing indoor navigation. Accordingly, GPS / Glonass and the like, satellite navigation systems are not available to you. What to do? In this article, we will consider in detail the options for solving such problems in the theoretical part, and in the practical - we implement an “indoor” tracker for working with iBeacon beacons via Bluetooth BLE on NodeJS based on the latest Intel Edison platform, consider the use of trilateration and filter Kalman, a CylonJS sensor library on NodeJS.
