Microsoft advises to refrain from installing update MS14-045

Microsoft recommends not installing the update MS14-045 (KB2982791), which was released this week as part of patch tuesday. After installing this update, the user's computer may become inoperative, in particular, Windows may function with a BSOD or “blue screen of death”, which will not allow the computer to boot normally. For users who have installed this update and have encountered a problem, the company offers instructions for resolving it. Anyway, the update has been removed from the update server and the link to it has also been removed from the Microsoft website.

Update MS14-045 (Vulnerabilities in Kernel-Mode Drivers Could Allow Elevation of Privilege) fixes three vulnerabilities like Elevation of Privelege in system drivers of all supported versions of Windows. It is about fixing drivers for the Windows subsystem (win32k.sys) and DirectX (Dxgkrnl.sys). Permanent BSODs may occur for users with the installed update, in addition, Windows may interrupt the normal operation of fonts (their display is incorrect).

After you install this security update, fonts that are installed in a location other than the default fonts directory (% windir% \ fonts \) cannot be changed when they are loaded into any active session. Attempts to change, replace, or delete these fonts will be blocked, and a "File in use" message will be presented.
