World of Tanks Blitz: Toy

Before I talk about the impressions of the game World of Tanks Blitz, I can not resist a small introduction.

On the third day, they wrote to me from the press service of Wargaming.net and strictly asked - why hasn’t there been publications about the game World of Tanks in the World of PC magazine for a long time? I cautiously replied that, supposedly, no reasons were found. The game is interesting, we love it. But this is not a reason to write about her at least once a month. It is also necessary to allocate space for other good products.

In response, they pointed out to me no less strictly that a reason can always be found. For example, write about how the company Wargaming.net stands for patriotism and the restoration of historical values.

Then I nervously swallowed my saliva. When a company begins to tell reporters about patriotism, they subconsciously feel bad. After all, as far as we know, Wargaming is not primarily about patriotism, but about money. And about the money rather big. Programmers do not work for tueses with birch kvass, and even PR specialists are rumored to have a slightly more banal motivation than the ability to drive the cherished tank Type 59.

And when a good profitable business begins to appeal to the patriotism of journalists, which should be expressed in the number of publications about Wargaming ... It seems to me that there is some flaw in this logic. And, taking this opportunity, I offer the PR service of the company to give me and everyone who plus this post the Type 59 tank. From a sense of patriotism, of course.

And now about, in fact, the main character of the article. World of Tanks Blitz is the new brainchild of Wargaming.net, running on iPad tablets with iOS version no lower than 7.0. This, of course, is not very true in relation to the owners of Apple computers, who are forced to put a godless “Windows” for the sake of their favorite game. They were expecting that after the Xbox version the Belarusians would turn their eyes to OS X, but at Wargaming they decided to tackle iOS. The decision is undoubtedly the right one: there are now much more iPads in the hands of the population than there are enough “poppies” powerful enough to launch World of Tanks. And competitors are not asleep. Last year, Tank Domination came out, voiced by Dmitry Puchkov AKA Goblin. I tried it, then tried again, and erased it. No, the game itself is quite beautiful, and the voice acting is happy. However, for ease of management, it lagged behind the real "Tanks" on a computer for a couple of centuries. And somehow I did not want to relearn.

Looking at this screen, I envy myself - all tanks, piles of silver and gold ... Alas, this is a special account for reviews, and soon it will turn into a pumpkin.

And now - a product from the original developers. The size of the files downloaded during installation is 665 MB, which is even modest today. At startup, you can log in as a user of the Game Center, or you can enter your username from the large "Tanks". The latter, however, is quite useless, because neither the tanks that have already been earned, nor the available game money will be transferred to the tablet.

The developers promised to transfer the maximum possible from a full-fledged game to the mobile version. I see that they tried to do this, but computers are still more powerful than tablets, plus it was impossible to focus only on the owners of the latest iPad Air and mini with a Retina screen. Therefore, the graphics in Blitz conditionally correspond only to the minimum settings in the computer version. The visible area is small, the textures are simple, destructible objects - the cat cried. You try to habitually demolish a clay hut on a deserted map of El Alamein, and it reveals reinforced concrete hardness.

The maximum number of participants in the battle is seven, however, in the case of top-level tanks of 9-10, which so far the players have few, three to four vehicles can reach the battle. And it will take quite a while to wait for the distribution - up to one and a half minutes. When the card has already loaded, the waiting time for the start of the battle is reduced from 25 seconds in the version on the computer to 5. And this, of course, is very humane towards the user.

As you can see, most of the users are currently riding on free cars of the first level, but a lot have already been pumped to the second. There

is only one game mode yet - capture the base. The cards are small, it is simply impossible to hide and get lost on them. For this reason, there is no "art" hated by many - only classic tanks and tank destroyers.

In the current version, only three countries are available combat vehicles - the USSR, Germany and the USA. There is no doubt that the others will soon add, although the differences in the mobile version are much less than in the full version. That is, outwardly, yes, but given the much less flexible control of serious machines, it is simply impossible to squeeze all their advantages.

Theoretically, everything with control is in order. Under the left hand is a drawn joystick, under the right - camera control and shooting. The latter is duplicated for the left finger, which is logical and convenient. But in practice, the finger glides over the screen surface not at all as smoothly and quickly as a good mouse on a special mat. That tank does not enter where it should be, and while you turn around - you will already be banged. That camera will accelerate in an incomprehensible direction, and the enemies of this will also be very happy.

Still, there is not enough space on the screen, and sometimes indicators overlap the main picture.

Compared to the same Tank Domination, it’s more convenient, no doubt. But still, the management does not reach the full game. True, Blitz is trying to help - and she will direct the gun herself, and the hit will count when, in fact, you missed a little. Even sections of the enemy tank, where you have a chance to break through the armor, will highlight them. But as a result, the game seems to be trying to seem the MOST, but in reality it’s fundamentally different. And therefore the question arises - for whom is it made?

We sweep away the inveterate "tankers" immediately. If you have a sufficiently powerful computer and you like to play World of Tanks on it, you can not even put Blitz on it. It will leave a feeling of a fake Christmas tree toy that looks like a real one, but does not please.

In a chat, people usually gather in platoons, although it’s not very clear - why.

If there is no computer (this happens more often), or you have a Mac that you don’t want to defile by installing Windows, you can certainly install Blitz. From scratch, without many years of experience in battles with a mouse and keyboard, you can like it and even take it seriously. I know living people who have been continuously excited for more than a week. An important plus of the game is that it is not only free, but also not too impudently pulls money out of a player. That is, of course, if you pay, it will become even more fun, but not so bad.

Those planning to take World of Tanks with them will be disappointed: like the progenitor game, Blitz needs an uninterrupted internet connection. Speed is not critical, megabyte is enough, but stability is crucial. For this reason, I couldn’t play on 3G: it connects like normal, ping is within reason, but if the package gets lost, the game starts to get funny. So, playing on the IS-3, I suddenly noticed that the cannon was firing at him in bursts, not requiring time to reload. Then, however, it turned out that there was no damage from her. And when the game was able to connect to the server again, it turned out that I had been burned for a long time. Probably, sometimes you can still play on 3G, but I personally could not escape from WiFi with any of the mobile operators.

The overall impression of the game is controversial. Personally, I don’t really like it, because there is a large powerful computer with a Philips widescreen monitor (aspect ratio 21: 9), and the tablet version with its many simplifications cannot compete with World of Tanks on the maximum graphics settings (by the way, why in WoT before they still haven’t added support for monitors 21: 9 - it’s a mystery for me. I have to pick the registry)

Everything is ready for buyers to come in the built-in store

But Blitz’s release will allow Wargaming.net to recruit thousands, hundreds of thousands of new followers that it could not reach before. And that means that new millions of dollars will flow into the cash desk of a patriotically oriented company.

PS The game will work on the iPhone, too, but I would not even recommend putting it there. And the tanks can not be seen, and manage completely impossible. At least the average male hand. Therefore, take the iPad - and bend little by little.
