Here is what the author himself says about his book:

“Over the years of creative work and comparing my personal experience with the experience of other managers, programmers and designers, I have mastered the art of project management, which includes approaches to team leadership, working on ideas, organizing work on projects, maintaining a work schedule, resolving conflicts situations and achieving concrete results, even in the face of serious trials and unfavorable circumstances. Despite the broad interpretation of the title of this book, I gained most of my working experience in the technical field, working, in particular, at Microsoft Corporation. I worked in this corporation from 1994 to 2003, leading a team of specialists working on projects such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Windows and MSN. For several years I worked in the development group of Microsoft Corporation, responsible for training and consulting teams throughout the company, and quite often received invitations to give presentations at public conferences, in corporations and universities. Most of the tips, lessons, and stories in this book are the fruits of this work experience. Although I have a rich past as a software and web application developer, while working on a book, I expanded my research area to sources and technologies that went beyond development and management. The book contains a lot of useful information for people belonging to the business world. I am convinced that difficulties in organizing, managing, developing and manufacturing have much in common, regardless of their field of activity. In the process of making toasters,

    Who is this book for?

To understand if you need this book, I suggest opening a table of contents, choosing a topic of interest to you and a quick look at everything that I wrote about this. I myself do not particularly trust the preface and I do not advise you, the color of the rest of the book is rarely conveyed in them. But you still can’t do without them. The book can be of most value for those people who consider themselves to be one or more of the following categories:

    - Experienced managers and team leaders. This book is suitable for everyone who plays a leadership role in the development of projects of any orientation. Although the book provides examples related to software development, many concepts will easily find application in other areas of activity. If you are officially leading a team or simply being one of its most experienced specialists and some of the topics you may be familiar with may be painful, then the direct approach chosen in the book will help clarify and clarify your views. Even if you can’t agree with the accents I have placed, you will get clear positions to develop your own point of view.

    - Freshly baked managers and team leaders. Looking at the topics listed in the table of contents, you will find a thorough overview of everything that project managers and project managers usually do. Each chapter highlights typical mistakes that are made even by experienced professionals, and also explains the causes of their occurrence and tactics to help them avoid. The book gives a broad picture of the new responsibilities assigned to you and the most reasonable actions to deal with them. Since most chapters cover fairly broad topics, they often provide annotated links to more detailed sources.

    - Simple programmers and testers, as well as other participants in project development. This book will help you better understand what you are putting your efforts into and what methods you can use to effectively carry out your work. If you have ever wondered why projects change directions so often or why it seems that they are poorly managed, this book will help to understand the reasons for what is happening and how to improve the situation. At the very least, reading this book will help increase the chances that the nature of your work will change (and you will better understand the situation as you complete it). Well, if you eventually expect to lead the team, then this book will help you figure out what it will look like in reality and how suitable you are for this kind of activity.

-Students studying business management, software design, or development. I used the term students in the broad sense of the word: if you are personally interested in this topic or are seriously studying these issues, this book should attract your attention. Unlike textbooks covering such topics, this book focuses mainly on the presentation of various facts and situations. It presents real events and reveals life experience, which, in fact, forms the basis of lessons and tactics, and not the other way around. I deliberately avoid drawing parallels between different academic subjects, because from my own experience I know that such comparisons not only do not help in the development of projects, but also do not give anything for understanding the real world situation (our universe does not tend to be divided into directions, like university sciences) .
