Half-Life 2 and Portal Available on NVIDIA SHIELD

NVIDIA has officially announced the expansion of the line of games for the SHIELD portable Android console to two new projects.

Owners of the console will now be able to purchase and play Android versions of PC hits such as Half-Life 2 and Portal, which were developed by Valve.

News about porting the famous Portal logic puzzle to the Android platform has been going on for several days (and even the exact release date was called), however, there was no reliable information about Half-Life 2 - only special “leaks” in the form of a souvenir mount of green color sent to Western news sites with unambiguous inscriptions and logos. And finally, the "veil of secrecy" was asleep - both games appeared on Google Play.

NVIDIA has done the outstanding job of porting Half-Life 2 and Portal to SHIELD. Now we can play both games on the SHIELD console, and fans of both franchises will be able to see the same gameplay that they loved on the PC. Says Doug Lombardi, Valve’s vice president of marketing.

But the main disappointment is the game only for the NVIDIA Shield console ( my colleague andrey_snegovik reviewed it) Given the complexity of control in these games, we can assume that this restriction is caused not by relatively “heavy” (as for mobile systems) graphics, but by the implementation of control — in the case of Shield, when porting, the “gamepad” control option can be reproduced almost exactly due to the availability of hardware buttons and joysticks, while for tablets and smartphones one would have to enter virtual buttons - and as far as it would be convenient, anyone who tried to play a first-person shooter on the floor could imagine shete.

Both games cost $ 9.99 ($ 351.99) and are already available for download:

    Half-Life 2: play. google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nvidia.valvesoftware.halflife2
