The Norwegian army is trying to control armored vehicles using Oculus Rift

Habré has already published several articles on the ability to control a quadrocopter using the Oculus Rift. Well, how do you like the idea of controlling an armored personnel carrier / tank with the Oculus Rift as the main control / surveillance tool? This is exactly the idea that the military experts of the Norwegian army are currently implementing.

According to eyewitnesses, the use of this gadget allows you to feel sitting in a "transparent tank."

All this is provided by several cameras mounted on several sides of the vehicle. The image from the cameras is reduced to a single "screen", which allows the person controlling the movement to see everything that is happening around.

Of course, the project is still in the early stages of development, and will be further developed. After all, it has several drawbacks, including the possibility of damage / contamination of the camera, when observation with the help of video glasses becomes impossible.

However, this project is impressive. Among other things, the price of a set of cameras is only 2 thousand US dollars, which is just a trifle for the military (especially Norway). At the same time, a set of specialized military-grade video cameras can cost $ 100,000. And this is already sensitive for any army in the world.
