This afternoon, Canonical unexpectedly announced the termination of support for its Ubuntu One cloud storage. The reasons for this unexpected step: the company's desire to concentrate on tablets, mobile phones, desktops, and developer tools for these systems, as well as the fact that the company is corny not able to compete with other similar services like Dropbox and Google Drive. Also, the cross is put on the service Ubuntu One Music.

The Ubuntu One client will already be excluded from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, the service itself will continue to work until June 1, 2014 , and the files will be permanently deleted after July 31 .
