Anti-piracy law is planned to expand on photography and software

Discussions of the so-called "anti-piracy" law appeared on Habré more than once or twice. Now this law applies only to video files, however, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has prepared several amendments that can add photos and software to the list of “protected” copyright objects.

According to Deputy Minister of Culture Grigory Ivlev, if these amendments are approved, this law will “protect” everything except music files. In addition, it is planned to change the procedure for conducting pre-trial settlement of disputes between webmasters and copyright holders.

Again, if the amendments are approved, then the copyright holders will be able to complain about the violation to the hosting provider, which, in turn, must contact the owners of the resource with the request to remove the content that is controversial. If the owner refuses, the site is blocked for a day. For refusing to block the resource, a fine of one million rubles will be imposed. This million will be paid by both the site owners and the provider.

The current scheme of action of the "anti-piracy" law.

Of course, all this causes a negative reaction of both individual users and Internet companies. For example, Yandex called the proposals of the Ministry of Culture "completely unfounded." And it will be very difficult for Internet companies to “filter” content. “We are supposed to create a regime under which various rules will concern, firstly, films, including films and television films; secondly, phonograms, and thirdly, all other objects of copyright and related rights, ”the press service of Yandex said.
