
Sony A4 Digital Paper

Sony Corporation plans to begin selling digital paper DPT-S1. This device is intended to replace paper technology and is aimed at the market for solutions for universities and companies. Distinctive features of the e-book are the large screen size and small thickness, coupled with a long working time.

The characteristics of the new device are quite interesting. First of all, it is worth noting the flexible touch-screen E-Ink Mobius (16 shades of gray) with a diagonal of 13.3 "and a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. There is a stylus for handwriting. The built-in memory is 4Gb of which 2.8Gb is available, there is an additional slot microSD with support for cards up to 32Gb (FAT file system). Wireless communications are provided by Wi-Fi standard IEEE 802.11b / g / n. Dimensions are quite small 233x310x6.8 mm. Weight with battery is only 358 g. At the same time, the stated duration of work is two to three weeks depending intensity of use or 24,000 pages. The main format that DPT-S1 works with is PDF, you can create notes in this format.
The release for the Japanese market is due December 3, 2013. The expected price is 98,000 yen or approximately 1000 USD. The start date for sales in Russia is still unknown, but we hope that such an interesting e-book will reach us soon.
