Enthusiastic recurring types of people in startups

After participating in several start-ups , successful and not very good, I decided to identify well-remembered, mostly negative types of behavior of team members. The undertakings were enthusiastic, without funding.

Cool startup

The product is not important, it is important that he is now a cool startup. You there, they say, do and work, and I flaunt it. He goes to parties, writes articles on his blog, and shoots videos about startups. How to be a cool startup How to choose a company name? Ask him! After a couple of months, disappointment comes: he seems to be a cool startup, but things are not moving. But nothing. He will find friends in the party who also don’t move and calm down.

Experienced

There are many projects behind him in the role of an executor, but in his (his) team he does nothing - he wants to command and observe how others work. He doesn’t always come to meetings, he believes that he no longer needs to work - his experience should be suitable as a contribution to the cause. After a couple of months, disappointment is coming, they say, it’s worth it or still does not work! Or the denial of the idea begins, as I said - it will not work.

I want everything but no time

Ready for hours to discuss the idea of who should do what and how to promote it. He takes tasks, but in the end, a lot of results fail. There is no time, because I scored other projects. Yes, and school, work, family are waiting. There is no disappointment, because a person still hopes to be in time in the future and, in extreme cases, complete it alone.

Teach me

The soul of the team and part-time tester. Ready to test, chat and learn, but not independently, with a mentor. Not with that experienced one, but who will explain everything with examples and show where to read something. The project is interesting, but there is no initiative, a desire to learn, but not independently. But the problem is that there is really no time to teach him, in the end disappointment is coming, they say do not teach!

Avid techie

Starts to thoroughly learn the basics of the basics. The study lasts a very long time, stackoverflow is clogged with questions that no one knows the answer to, followed by reflection and preparation. Give him enough time - it will be a walking encyclopedia and an intelligent member of the team (unless of course you quickly change technology). Well suited for long projects. Since the technology itself is interesting, and not so much a startup, as such, disappointments occur in the selected technologies. It’s better to rewrite everything in Java, but then someday. First learn ...

Creator

He does everything diligently, especially under inspiration, he can turn mountains, and quickly. He really appreciates his work, because he creates masterpieces from scratch. He does not like all kinds of economists, marketers and other non-creators. He doesn’t like it if someone touched his code. Disappointed if you have to change something or remake in the prototype. Like, you had to immediately think everything over and do it once.

Procrastinator

Also turns mountains first, like the creator. But at some point a turning point occurs, he becomes bored and doesn’t seem to be leaving, but does nothing. Reasons for inaction are easily invented. Especially if the task is important and everyone reminds him of it, procrastination progresses especially rapidly. In such periods, actively hides, does not come to meetings. Disappointed and resentful when a task is taken from him. Tomorrow he would have completed it.

Hard worker

He constantly thinks about the product, licks the details and chases after everyone. Sam grabs for everything. Motor team. Why is no one working? Disappointed in the team, supposedly not everyone is as sick with the project as he is. Then for a long time he was offended by everyone and finds out the reasons for the failure.

Of course, a person can have several of these qualities at once.

And what types have you met in your beginnings?
