Loc Kit Conference Report

Our readers will remember that we announced a conference on software localization. Finally we can take stock.

The Loc Kit conference was held on September 27 in Moscow at the Japan House Convention Center. We were visited by 70 people, which is slightly less than we expected, but we got a chamber event for localization professionals from 26 companies.

Speakers spoke about the internationalization strategy (Tex Texin), the choice of internationalization strategy (Ekaterina Lazhintseva), the preparation of materials (Vladimir Gusarov) and the selection of contractors (Kirill Solovyov and Sergey Storozhenko), the construction of the testing process and the quality control of localization (Natalya Volkova and Andrey Tselibeev ) At the conference, somewhat unexpectedly, even for ourselves, a kind of machine translation section was formed with three reports: on the inevitability of machine translation, its place in software localization, and post-editing. In addition, we had a game report by the head of the All Correct editorial team Nadezhda Lynova on examples of computer games in the genres of "farm", "search for an item" and word puzzles. Nadezhda spoke about the technology of preparing the game for localization.

Conference reports and photos from it are available at the links.

The most fascinating parts from the first reports can be found in the introductory video of the conference (it is higher).

Thanks to all visitors - we were interested in you and we look forward to new meetings.
