While Elon Musk dreams, Japan makes the fastest train in the world

To date, the fastest train in the world is located in Japan. Elon’s dreams about Hyperloop are, of course, wonderful, but so far these are only dreams. Meanwhile, Japan presented the fastest train in the world that floats in the air - the Muggle .

Japan Rail presented a new train that can move at a speed of 500 km / h. Apparently, they decided not to bother with the name and gave it the melodious name JR Tokai L0 Series Shinkansen. The train soars smoothly over the tracks on a magnetic pad without any friction in any weather.

Currently, the train is operating in test mode, informing Tokyo and Nagoya that a full launch is planned for 2027. The train is extremely long and pointed in front to reduce air resistance. In this test mode, the trains will be equipped with 16 wagons and will be able to carry up to 1000 passengers. By car, this path takes about 350 km, the train will cover this distance in 40 minutes. Other high-speed trains now require up to 95 minutes to cover this distance.

Despite all its manufacturability and advantages, the project poses serious financial challenges, namely $ 100 billion, to build a fully finished magnetic cushion connection between Tokyo and Osaka (about 500 km). If everything goes according to plan, then the Japanese will be able to move around their country faster than ever before.
