Overview of the ultrabook-transformer Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11s

Ultrabooks have become such a familiar thing that it has become difficult to attract customers by reducing the size of the device. We have to invent something more interesting - they began to make transformers. Lenovo has taken this path with the Yoga line. One of them we will consider today: this Yoga 11S with a 360-degree reclining touch screen and Windows 8 Pro on board.

    Packaging and equipment

The ultrabook was brought to me in a huge nondescript cardboard box, which could fit my old 15.6 ”laptop. Inside - a black box, much, as they say, better. A hefty package allows you to protect the inner box from damage - this is especially important if anyone thinks of sending Yoga by Russian Post.

Comes with a power supply, wire and manual. It even explained how to properly keep your back while working.

The power supply is tiny, weighs almost nothing.

The ultrabook looks stylish - the metal case is coated with a matte finish. The most pleasant thing is the tactile sensations from the velvety surface inside and out. Yoga stands firmly on the surface, does not crawl. The case is thin, but not pointed - they cannot cut bread. And it is surprisingly little similar to the products of another well-known manufacturer, which they just like to cut something .

The island-type keyboard is literate, without extra keys and with the correct location and size available. There is no traditional joystick for Lenovo.

Yoga is equipped with HDMI, one USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, a slot for SD, one combo headphone jack with microphone.

Solid body, I did not find any backlash. The display leans back smoothly, you don’t have to make much effort, but it won’t hang out.

Ultrabook turns on almost instantly. It does not warm very much, but in the usual position I do not advise you to keep it on your knees for a long time - it will still be hot. As for the noise: the cooler can be heard only if you attach the device to your ear and around it will be quiet.

    Sound

Two built-in speakers (seen in the photo above on the side faces) and the integrated Dolby Home Theater v4 system make watching movies enjoyable - surround sound, no wheezing. I expected less.

    Control

The keyboard is surprisingly comfortable. Most often, it takes me a while to get used to the new device. This time I set to work instantly, and after a couple of hours I noticed that there were no Russian symbols on my keyboard at all. The only thing that was a little embarrassing was the lack of scroll on the touchpad, I had to get used to scrolling through the display.

Using the device with the display rotated 360 degrees is convenient for viewing tapes on social networks, but there will be problems with typing - unless you put Yoga on your knees. On weight, you can hold it with only two hands, and then not for long - it's still 1.4 kg. Unusual feel of the keyboard on the back.

    image

The “stand” position is, in my opinion, the most convenient for work if there is no need to type a large amount of text.

I often have to post to Facebook and a wild number of tweets at events. I can do some of this work with my smartphone, but something more convenient from a laptop. In the case of Yoga, I need only one device that allows you to work on a normal keyboard at any time, and use the display the rest of the time.

    Display

The 11 ”display supports up to 10 simultaneous touches. Resolution - 1366 x 768 pixels. Viewing angle - 180 degrees. Above it is a 1 megapixel camera. An important advantage of Yoga - the display leans back 360 degrees, so breaking it this way will not work. To be honest, I don’t know how to break it off.

    Offline work

Another important component of work anywhere for me is the need to charge the device as little as possible. The battery lasted for four hours of watching videos and surfing the network in parallel.

At the same time, the advantage and disadvantage is the weight: 1.4 kg for a laptop - excellent, but too much for a tablet. Taking pictures in tablet mode, as iPad owners are used to doing, will not work - there is no camera on the keyboard.

It is convenient to put it on your knees with a “stand” or on your stomach with a “house” (if you are lying) .. The display responds well to touch, the keyboard softly springs. It turns on instantly, it works smartly. To work is pleasant and convenient.
