Tiny Thief - A cool mobile game made using the Flash + Autodesk Scaleform Mobile SDK

    image

In the beginning, I wanted to write a translation of a review article from Autodesk about the game TIny Thief , but in the translation process I realized that the article was a little more than fully aimed at advertising the Autodesk Scaleform Mobile SDK , and not at revealing useful information on developing the game.

But this does not change the essence. Gentlemen, I am very glad that a tool has appeared that, apparently, allows you to port Flash to mobile platforms in a convenient way and at the same time gives good performance. I, as a Flash developer, are very, very happy (since, unfortunately, Adobe, in my opinion, was not able to create a good tool for porting Flash to iOS and Android).

    Brief characteristics:
    1) In the list of declared platforms for porting: iOS, Android, Win Phone 8 / RT (although judging by the comments on the forums, Win support has not yet been implemented)
    2) Allows you to use vector graphics created in Flash without additional transfer to the raster.
    3) Apparently, it keeps good performance.
    4) Allows you to upload / download .swf files on the fly, which makes it possible to control the load on RAM.

I really hope that such a technology will give a new impetus to the development of Flash-development (since Flash is a really cool environment for creating content, unfortunately, they started to make progress too late in making Flash work well on mobile phones, and, rather In all, we have already missed my chance to occupy this niche, even as a Flash developer, after trying several times (though a very long time ago) AIR for porting to iOS, I decided to use it, as it would be very buggy and slow).

    In general, cheers, comrades!

    PS:
At the Starling forum, people are discussing the game, and one of the developers of 5 Ants joined the discussion and answers questions of those interested.
