DConf 2013 - D Programming Language Conference Held

A little more than a week ago, the three-day conference on the programming language D ended. We
have already written about it on Habrahabr several times , and a separate post was devoted to the conference itself , where you can see the full list of reports.

In short:
  • She walked from May 1 to 3, 2013
  • Venue - Facebook Headquarters in California
  • Presentations were made by the developers of the compiler and the standard language library, its creator Walter Bright, as well as representatives of companies that use D in development
  • Conference funds were raised by the community on Kickstarter

Directions of reports:
  • Tricks and tools for effective development on D
  • Experience in using D in solving applied problems: compiler writing, research and game development
  • Language internals: metaprogramming, specific design patterns, SIMD
  • Discussions of the future language between its developers

All reports were filmed and will be gradually published. So far, recordings of the first two performances are available: an opening speech by the creator of the language, Walter Bright and a story about Copy and Move Semantics in D by Ali Çehreli, both videos are added below.

(I don’t see them in the preview, just in case, here are direct links: the first and second .)

The conference organizers believe that it was very successful and showed that D is a rapidly developing and promising language. In the future, it is planned to make DConf an annual event.
