Review BlackBerry Z10

Good afternoon, habravchane. Another gadget was in my hands for a whole week. This BlackBerry Z10 is a new milestone in the history of the development of the Canadian company, which, incidentally, is no longer called RIM . Research in Motion is now BlackBerry. (Apparently, the cult of another fruit company known to us made us think about rebranding ...)

I can’t say that BlackBerry 10 is the story of another Android or iOS. It seems that recently operating systems do not want to copy iOS and Android and try to avoid similarities, while distorting in full force.

And for me - it would be better if they stole, because I want to see the logic in communicating with the device, and not a chair with two legs or, conversely, ten.



BlackBerry is just the very fantasy of the “mazahist developers," since the UI navigation in BlackBerry 10 is not clear to me and is not very pleasant yet. But all mobile OSs faced this (with the exception of iOS 1.0, I think). But first things first.

Design



The design I liked, Z10 front is covered with glass, and behind a pleasant sheshrshavym plastic that resembles soft touch. The phone looks very concise, fashionable and at the same time it still smells of a business product.

I held both white and black versions in my hands and, I assure you, both look good. Design is the strongest side of the new BlackBerry product. I now use the iPhone 5 and I don’t really like that it is excessively thin and light: the Z10 has everything perfect in my opinion.



And I especially want to say “thank you” to the developers that the white version in front remains black. Still, according to the experience of using the white iPhone 4, only deplorable memories of how the front light frame does not contrast with the black screen come up.

OS

In the country, the BlackBerry 10 OS is a rookie, and it is far from perfect. According to first impressions, the 10th “finished” version of BlackBerry OS 7, since the spirit of the system still hovers somewhere in the clouds: the same fonts are used here (the settings application is generally the same), the same graphic elements are used. It is unfortunate that BlackBerry did not make a completely new OS. The company was afraid to lose those few customers that it already has, but in vain - sometimes by putting everything at stake, you can win.

But, in spite of all the "dampness" of the project, we can confidently say that BlackBerry 10 is a very stable system, as it is built on QNX. [ article about qnx ] There is a

need to devote a separate review to OS 10 review, so I will highlight the pros and cons:

Pros:
- A single BlackBerry ID that does not oblige BIS and BES to be connected (for BBM, for example)
- The screen sharing function on another BlackBerry 10 device via the Internet
- The ability to open an alarm from the lock screen
- A smart keyboard
- A camera with Time Shift function
- Indestructible QNX core (in other words, stability)

Cons:
- Extremely few applications in BlackBerry World
- Lack of visual notifications
- Ability to set only one alarm clock (in fact)
- Insufficient interface smoothness (with Snapdragon S4 Plus processor!)

Battery

The Z10 has a removable Li-ion 1800 mAh battery. It lacks a BlackBerry like any other modern Android device or iPhone.
I removed the BlackBerry from charging at about 10 in the morning and by 7 in the evening it was sitting down. A familiar story.

LTE

NoMobile blog said that Z10 supports Russian LTE-networks. I could not verify this, because I do not catch 4G at home (this time), and secondly, I use Beeline, and Megafon and MTS offer not cheap rates and for one case I did not want to buy a SIM card. General impressions

Loved the design and individual features. I did not like the operating system: it requires refinement. BlackBerry needs to freshen up its idea of ​​GUIs to get really good. Nevertheless, the phone left a good impression, it is like a big leap towards the future. I think (albeit not in the Russian market) that everything will work out for BlackBerry and in 3-4 years OS 10 will have good popularity, but not earlier than this period ...

General impressions # 2 (for fans of BlackBerry)

Of course, people who use BlackBerry devices, who are already accustomed to BIS and BES, who value BBM, who like corporate thinking, who ultimately know BlackBerry OS from heel to crown ... they will like the Z10, as it’s a well-finished old BlackBerry. I never had feelings for RIM, therefore I can’t share the enthusiasm with these people, but, it seems to me, many will agree with me.

PS The BlackBerry Z10 prototype, code-named London, in my opinion, was even prettier than the final product.
