Lenovo P770 - “long-playing” smartphone with a 3500mAh battery

    image
When releasing new smartphones, manufacturers very often forget about the most important thing - a good battery. Yes, 4 cores, a large screen, an ultra-thin design are good. But do not live out until the evening on a single charge? That's too much!
Is there a good compromise at the moment? So that the performance is good, and the screen, and the battery. And while the phone did not look like a brick?
    Yes there is!
Lenovo has released its new smartphone called Lenovo P770. Two cores, a good screen, 2 SIM cards, a 3500mAh battery. And the price ...
    Interesting? Then read on!

At first glance - the characteristics of an ordinary Chinese smartphone: 2 SIM cards, MTK6577 chip, 4.5 "screen with Resolution 540x960 pixels. But there are differences, namely: OTG support and a 3500mAh battery.

    Equipment

The smartphone comes in a solid cardboard box with the inscription "ideaphone P770":
    image

Inside there is a compartment for the phone, and underneath - the compartment for accessories:

Of the accessories there are: USB cable, OTG cable, headset, charger with adapter.

    Appearance

Lenovo P770 has a nice rounded shape, no sharp edges:
    image

Front bottom buttons are touch control buttons "Menu", "Home", "Back":

0.3MP front camera, light sensor, proximity sensor:

    Rocker volume control : Power

It may seem that placing the USB input on top is not the best solution, but in fact you get used to it and do not feel any discomfort over time.

The back cover is plastic and ... yes, completely glossy: A
    image

protective silicone bumper is indispensable. I got a silicone bumper, which also turned out to be glossy (no luck!), But it somehow protects the back cover from inevitable scratches.

Rear 5MP camera with flash: At the

bottom there is a speakerphone and a small slot for the convenience of opening the back cover:

Under the back cover there are: 2 SIM card slots for use in GSM / WCDMA networks, microSD memory card slot, battery:

2 SIM cards are in standby mode.

The battery is not simple, but with a capacity of 3500mAh!

Compare the size 2000mAh battery from the phone Samsung E2370 and 3500mAh of Lenovo P770:
    image

    Slimmer:
    image

    But more broadly,
    image

Weight 3500 mAh battery is made up of 60 grams, the weight of 2000 mAh battery - 43 grams.
It is incorrect to compare the battery life of the E2370 and P770, since the E2370 is a regular phone. And it also has its advantages - you can spend a month with it without recharging.
But back to the subject of review.
Despite such an impressive battery, the Lenovo P770 does not look fat at all and lies comfortably in the hand:
    image

    image

The total weight of the smartphone with a battery is 161 grams.

Compared to Samsung E2370, our review hero looks thin:

    Screen

The Lenovo P770 has a 4.5 "IPS screen with a resolution of 540x960 pixels.
    Good color rendering:

    And viewing angles:

The only thing that spoils the screen a little is the low maximum brightness. It's hard to see something on the screen on a sunny day.

    Performance

The smartphone has an overclocked version of the well-known Mediatek MT6577 chip. The frequency of the dual-core Cortex-A9 processor is raised from 1 GHz to 1.2 GHz, the GPU remains the same - PowerVR SGX 531. The amount of RAM is 1 GB, the constant is 4 GB.

Let's look at the results of synthetic tests:

    Antutu 3.1.1:
    imageimage

    Quadrant 2.1.1:
    imageimage
    imageimage

Of the sensors there are: a light sensor, a proximity sensor, an accelerometer.

    Linpack - processor test:
    imageimage

Vellamo - HTML 5 processing test:
    image

Nenamark 2 - graphics performance test:
    image

Can these results be considered good?
It all depends on the needs. Yes, for powerful 3D games, the PowerVR SGX531 GPU is not the best option. Yes, someone will say 1GB - this is not enough for multitasking. But personally, I find the architecture of MTK6577 well balanced. 2 SIM cards, 2 cores, 1GB of RAM - a good set for everyday phones.

    Wifi

Without obstacles, the signal level is good, with each additional obstacle in the form of a wall, the level begins to fall:
    imageimage

    GPS

At the first launch of GPS, the phone stubbornly did not want to see satellites. I had to turn on A-GPS. On subsequent launches, GPS started quickly and without additional help.

    OTG

By connecting the tail of the OTG cable, we can connect various USB devices. For example, a flash drive:
    image

The device is mounted as an external memory card:
    image

Another useful function is charging other devices. For example, you can recharge the “big brother” Ramos W41 :
    image

With a battery capacity of 3500mAh, this is undoubtedly a very useful feature. You can "save" more than one voracious smartphone neighbor.

    Camera

The front 0.3MP camera is not worth much attention, so let's see what the rear 5MP camera is capable of.
In good lighting conditions, the pictures turn out to be good:

    image

On a street on a sunny day, at first glance, the quality (like for a mobile camera) is not bad, but the colors are not very natural:

    image

In terms of the quality of the pictures, the P770 is inferior to many cameras that are installed in Chinese phones.

    Video

Video playback in formats up to 720p is supported:

    Games

As mentioned above, PowerVR SGX531 is not the best solution for gamers. But you can still play arcade games:

    And some 3D games:

    Working hours

Charge level monitoring is handled by Energy Smart.
You can apply 5 different profiles:
    • Waiting (only calls and SMS)
    • Economical (calls, sms and 3G)
    • Alarm clock (all communication is disconnected)
    • Normal (calls, sms, 3G, GPS)
    • Custom

Carry out an analysis of charge consumption and set up automatic switching between profiles:

Let's try to figure out how “Chinese” the claimed 3500mAh is.
Let's start with the Antutu Tester battery test:
    imageimage

Lenovo P770 is the absolute leader in the rating with 1257 points.

The built-in Energy Smart utility gives the following assumptions about the operating time:
    image

Actual operating time when watching a video (720x400), 100% brightness, sound through headphones, “Normal” energy saving profile, Wifi turned off, 10 hours 32 minutes. So, the assumptions about the operating time from the Energy Smart utility can be considered quite reliable.
With an average load, the smartphone can work for about 3 days.

    Software

    conclusions

    pros

    + 3500mAh battery
    + OTG support
    + 2 SIM cards
    + price

    Minuses

    - glossy back cover
    - quality of pictures of the back camera

Total, for a reasonable price we get an excellent phone with good performance and design. And you don’t have to carry a charger with you every day.

    Price

Lenovo P770 will be officially sold in Russia starting in March. According to this information, the price will be 11,990 rubles .
The official launch of sales of Lenovo P770 in Ukraine is also expected.

The price in China at the time of writing is ~ $ 245, which is about $ 150 cheaper than the estimated cost in Russia. At the same time, do not forget that the price of $ 240 already includes the cost of delivery, and even paying $ 30 for EMS delivery can save more than $ 100. But when buying in China, there is also a minus - the lack of a "guarantee". More precisely, not a complete absence, but a nuance in use - in case of a breakdown, you will need to send the phone back at your own expense (~ $ 15), then wait a while until it is repaired and sent back. This kind of warranty is valid for 1 year.

Let's calculate how much the smartphone costs when buying directly from the factory. The price of $ 227 includes: ~ $ 15 shipping cost + ~ $ 10 seller’s profit + $ 12 trading platform commission. Total: $ 227- $ 37 = $ 190. But this price also includes the profit of the intermediary, since the Lenovo factory does not ship products directly to sellers.
It turns out that when you get from China to Russia, the phone more than doubles in price. Not bad, right?
