CRUX 3.0 Released

On January 18, 2013, a new version of the minimalist distribution kit for experienced users of CRUX 3.0 was released . Let me remind you, it is from this distribution that the popular Archlinux takes its development. Features of CRUX in its minimalism - removed unnecessary localization and documentation, has a BSD-like initialization system and follows all the principles of KISS.

The main change in the new release is the discontinuation of support for the x86 architecture. Now assemblies will be only x86_64. Let me remind you that the development team always supports only one platform, and if earlier the main one was x86, and x86_64 was contained by volunteers, then now it's the other way around. Moreover, in the standard package there are not even libraries for launching 32bit applications.

The following basic packages are included in the standard package:
    • Linux 3.6.11
    • Glibc 2.16.0
    • GCC 4.7.2
    • Binutils 2.23.1
    • Xorg 7.7
    • xorg-server 1.13.0
