Tester Diary / Tester Chronicles.
Author - Yuri Alekseevich Brigadir
Short collections of humorous short stories from the life of a Russian pirate office involved in the production of counterfeit software CDs. It is written in a very lively and colloquial language, it is not shy about the mat, but exclusively in the case, it is conducted on behalf of the entrant, and later the student, who works as a tester of the resulting disks in this office. And in the description of the office, its environment or its heroes, everyone will surely find themselves or familiar faces, familiar situations. It is read quickly and easily. Required reading.
Gleb altshifter (and others)
Author - Leonid Kaganov
The author has a very specific style and style, you will either love it or it will seem strange to you, but you should definitely try reading it, at least try it. I started with this story, which is why I recommend it.
9600 baud and all all all (as well as sequels, for example " 14400 baud and the same all-all-all ")
Author - Andrey Shcherbakov
How to briefly describe the plot ... Times 386-486 / first Pentium, Winnie the Pooh is a cool hacker, Eeyore too, but breaks programs exclusively out of love for art, Piglet cuts himself in Prince of Persia, SAVA (original spelling) hands out telephone in the woods lines, the Tiger works at the telephone exchange, the Rabbit keeps BBS at home, Christopher Robin holds the bank, and the Elephants ... Well, I won’t open all the cards, because it is interesting, fun to read and recommend to everyone again.
Labyrinth of reflections (trilogy)
Author - Sergey Lukyanenko
The curious idea of an alternative story is taken as the basis - virtual reality is invented, but at least in a non-standard way. A person with special light effects is immersed in a special state such as trance, and it seemsthat he is inside a game / 3D chat or something. In reality, he is here, in our reality, pressing buttons and moving the mouse, but does not feel it, and the brain completes the rest of the environment. The idea is a good one, the limitations associated with this were originally logical ... At least the first book is definitely worth a try.
The history of one byte
Author - Dmitry Galuscenko
Recently surfaced in the comments on HabraHabr. The story about programming iron, about the philosophy of programming, just try to skip it! ;-)
This is so far all that I could immediately recall, something else will come up - then I will add it in updates. And waiting for your favorite stories and books in the comments!
