Dell leaves the “smartphone business”, stops working with Android

Dell said the corporation will no longer produce and sell smartphones. Earlier this year, the company stopped selling its smartphones in the US, but offered mobile devices in China. Now it became clear that Dell completely ceases the smartphone business, planning to shift efforts to a similar area - the production of tablet PCs.

True, only devices based on Windows RT and Windows 8 will be produced, the company will not produce tablets with Android OS. Dell representatives also announced the possibility of producing ultrabooks / PCs with touch displays running Windows 8. By the way, the new Latitude tablets and XPS laptops are already delivered with this operating system.

As for smartphones, the company completely stops working with hardware, but Dell will continue to work with mobile software. True, the mobile software produced by Dell will be intended mainly for corporations, and not for private users.

It is worth noting that Dell has repeatedly released interesting mobile devices that never became popular. For example, the Dell Streak device was the same as the Galaxy Note now. But the hybrid tablet and smartphone from Samsung has become popular, but Dell Streak - no.

Be that as it may, Dell is one of the largest manufacturers of PCs and laptops in the world, although it is positioning itself as an “IT company”, which produces “IT solutions”, not computers.
