    I think it’s no secret to anyone that things are quite sad with ramps for wheelchairs in our country.

    I came across a prototype of a stroller created by Japanese scientists that can walk up the stairs, while adjusting the height of the seat, that is, the stroller walks, and the person in it remains in approximately the same position.



    The whole charm is that the person sitting in it does not need to control this process - he simply uses the joystick to direct the stroller in the right direction, and she takes care of the rest herself. A number of sensors are installed on the stroller, with the help of which it activates the "walking" mode as soon as it runs into an obstacle.

    Sensors can detect the presence of obstacles on the road. As soon as the stroller approaches the step, the robot takes a step. In this case, the distance to the obstacle, as well as its dimensions, are measured. The robot lifts one leg, taking a step, because at this time the rear wheels change position to stabilize. Plus, the stroller can be deployed on the spot.

    While the stroller is not ready for the mass production stage, its creator says that now they only have this prototype, but it is already able to show all the advantages of the device. At the next stage, it is planned to conduct a series of tests in order to collect as many reviews as possible from people who are forced to use wheelchairs.

    It was invented by Shuro Nakajima from the Institute of Technology in Chiba, Japan (Shuro Nakajima, Chiba, Japan).
