ThinkPad lineup turns 20 years old

Today, Lenovo (which acquired IBM’s laptop and PC business) is celebrating the ThinkPad lineup for 20 years. Many representatives of the Habrasociety prefer ThinkPad to any other laptop models. I first saw the ThinkPad with my boss back in 1999, and this laptop (I don’t remember the model now) just hit me.

The ThinkPad line is recognizable primarily due to its shape (it is worth noting that the case design was created after the developers were impressed by the Japanese bento box for breakfast boxes), an excellent keyboard, a red manipulator located directly in the keyboard.

Now the range of these laptops is constantly updated with powerful models (including the model with a dual display), as well as ultrabooks.

As part of the celebration of 20 years of the model, Lenovo has released several booklets, as well as created a chic online presentation that shows the history of the ThinkPad, as well as the basic idea that underlies. You can find the presentation here .

Below you can also watch a video with a detailed history of the entire line, as well as find a link to the ThinkPad graphic “evolution tree”.
