Hybrid Smartphone Reader with e-ink Announced

For many years I have been reading books, mainly from the phone display. At first it was a small display at siemens m55 (a good phone, by the way, was). Then, with the advent of devices with a large display, reading became more convenient. Somehow I did not work out with e-ink readers, despite the fact that my wife can’t get enough of her Pocketbook. However, reading on a smartphone has a big drawback: the smartphone’s battery runs out very quickly (especially if the display is large). E Ink Corporation offers a very interesting solution to the problem: a hybrid smartphone with two displays.
The first display of such a device is quite ordinary. And the second, on the back of the case, is already e-ink. This solution allows you to switch to reading from e-ink in a couple of seconds, and at the same time, the phone’s battery is almost empty. Maybe for many this solution will seem not quite convenient - after all, you have to take care of the safety of not just one, but two displays at once (you will need to be careful to put such a phone in place).
So far, the project exists only in a state of concept. True, representatives of E Ink say that at least one manufacturer of mobile devices has become interested in the idea and is going to launch it. The company believes that conventional displays are great for viewing multimedia files or surfing the web, but for text, an e-ink screen is still optimal.
And after all, the developers are right - and their eyes will be less tired, and energy is saved. It would be nice if the developers still made a protective screen that closes the currently unused e-ink screen. After all, such a display is quite fragile (although there are already working projects for flexible e-ink displays, so maybe everything is not so bad). Manufacturers are going to cover the e-ink with plastic, but still this is not a 100% solution to the problem of the fall of a mobile device.
