Edible chips approved in the US

The US Food and Drug Administration recently approved one interesting project. We are talking about microchips that can be swallowed so that they then provide all kinds of medical information. Basically, this is the frequency of taking certain medications. Chips transmit information directly to a mobile device (telephone), and then the data goes to the attending physician.

Unfortunately, so far there have been no nanorobots that could cure the body in a matter of hours. Many science fiction writers write and wrote about this, however, so far this remains a fantasy. However, Proteus Digital Health tablets allow you to keep track of how often you take your medications. Often people forget about taking any medicine, and the picture of treatment is disturbed, and the doctor does not always understand why.

The chips themselves are made of a material containing silicon, magnesium, copper. The combination of these elements, the acidic environment of the stomach and medications leads to the generation of a weak current by the chips. The received signal is read by another microchip attached to the skin (the chip is tiny, so it cannot interfere in any way). In turn, this chip sends data via a wireless interface to the patient’s phone, from where the information goes to the doctor.

It is planned that such chips will be added to the tablets, and when taking the drug, the attending physician will receive confirmation. A few minutes after ingestion, the chip dissolves, and a person receives several useful trace elements. It sounds somewhat weird, but, as mentioned above, the technology is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

It may well be that in a couple of years all this will become a very familiar method of taking medications.
