Digitimes: Windows 8 OEM pricing
The Digitimes resource, known for its insider information, citing its sources, has published prices for various versions of Windows 8 for computer manufacturers, the RTM version of which, according to Microsoft's plans, is scheduled for early August, while a new system should appear on store shelves in October .
Thus:
The price for the last two versions - Win 8 Pro and Windows RT - is indicated taking into account the cost of the Office package.
It is also noted that, although manufacturers have high hopes for a new system from Microsoft, which should spur notebook sales during the Christmas sales period, nevertheless, orders for the number of Windows 8 installations still look rather conservative. This is due to the fact that a number of features of Windows 8 - like a touchscreen - that should support new computers, makes their price higher than ordinary laptops; lower prices for Windows 8-based machines should be expected only in the second quarter of next 2013.
The retail price for Windows 8 is not yet known.
