Apple will put the billionth iPhone this year

When Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone 2G in 2007, hardly anyone could have imagined that the sales of this smartphone in the higher price segment would amount to tens of millions of copies per quarter. Even in the case of iPhone 3Gs, Apple managed to sell more than 1 million smartphones in just one weekend - then no one was ready for this.
In the first weekend after the launch of the iPhone 6s, Apple was able to sell more than 13 million smartphones, setting a new record for this indicator. And after the release of the iPhone 7, this record will again be broken. But even without taking into account the sales of the new flagship, Apple will soon be able to mark 1 billion iPhone sold - such a number of smartphones sold is unattainable for the vast mobile vendors. Currently, Apple has sold about 946 million iPhones, which opens the way to the potentially 1 billion smartphones sold.
“When Apple announced the April 25 financial results, the company announced 50 million iPhone sales in the first three months of 2016,” CNN Money reports .
According to the forecasts of FactSet analysts, Apple will sell approximately 44 million iPhones this quarter, bringing the total, selling a total of 990 million. It is worth noting that these are some of the most negative forecasts on the market. Naturally, 10 million smartphones sold per quarter are quite an ambitious task, but after the conference for WWDC'16 developers, during which the company should announce a new version of iOS 9, the demand for existing generations of iPhone will be in great demand.
Apple already sold its billionth device with iOS in November 2014, when iPad and iPod touch were included in this list. If Apple can sell 1 billion iPhones by June, then we will definitely hear about it during the upcoming presentation of the company, which should be held traditionally during WWDC'16.
Despite this level of sales, some analysts have expressed concern that the smartphone market is close to saturation and in the near future Apple will face a serious drop in smartphone sales. It is the iPhone that generates the bulk of profits for Apple - $ 51.6 billion over the past quarter. Therefore, it is important for Apple to maintain the growth rate of smartphone sales to increase quarterly profits.
