Andy Rubin: Android is activated 900,000 times a day

Andy Rubin, the founding father and “vice president of Android” at Google, announced on Twitter his next record for the mobile operating system - 900,000 Android phones and tablets are now activated per day.

The last time Google announced the number of activations at the Mobile World Congress in February and then there were 850,000.

Did Android come close to its maximum distribution speed? Obviously, yes. For the first half year in 2011, the number of activations increased by 44% - from 300,000 to 500,000, in the second half of the year we saw about the same growth. It is not difficult to calculate that in the first six months of 2012 the number of activations grew by only 6%.

Just a few days ago, IDC released its forecastdevelopment of mobile systems and it also says that the era of rapid growth of Android in the smartphone market is coming to an end. According to IDC, in 2016, Android will still remain the main player in the market, but its share will decrease from 61% to 53%. Windows Phone will take second place with 19.2% of the market, while iOS and BlackBerry will receive approximately equal shares and will share third place.
