There were rumors about new HTC smartphones long before their official appearance at MWC 2012. All sorts of different "Edges", "Endeavors", "Willie" and other new devices leaked to the Network eventually merged into one line called One. Thus, now we have three gadgets with different characteristics: One X, One S and One V and, accordingly, at different prices. The most expensive and uncompromising, purely Geek X is 29990, the youngest V (attention!) 14990 - here HTC tried and made the price tag very humane, and the most balanced S, which will be discussed below, costs 24990.
The new smart is at the same time similar to everything that the company has done before, and is not similar. HTC can be understood: on the one hand, it is necessary to preserve the succession of design, and on the other, move to the bright future of diversity. One S has a look at Desire, but not to the point where they can be confused. The main differences are the thickness of the case and the front panel. At first it seemed to me that the all-metal Eska somehow uncomfortably lay in the hand - it is so thin and flat. But this is a fee for progress, so I had to get used to it in a couple of days. But the front panel liked immediately. The move with the flowing black glossy edging of the screen into the sidewalls, in my opinion, is simply gorgeous.
Identity adds a contrasting bezel to the camera. In the black model it is red, and in the silver one it is blue.
In addition, it is worth noting the speaker grilles, made in the same style. Previously, HTC made them “chrome”, but now it’s just a perforation in the case. Minimalist and elegant.
Another important point regarding the case is the scratch resistant coating. With One S, you can show tricks to friends. Take ... well, for example, a plug. We draw along the back and show everyone four explicit stripes. We don’t listen to exclamations like “Yes, he’s stubborn! Scratch the gadget in 25 pieces! ”Just wipe the surface with something, and there are no scratches. With a plug - I exaggerate it a bit, but with the keys in one pocket, I always wore a smartphone, and nothing. A little rub it, and as good as new. The only question is, how much is such coverage enough? :)
Well, the last thing worth noting is the lack of silver letters in the logo. This time, it is simply engraved in the case, so you can not be afraid of the prospect of walking with a TC or HT phone. And then my precedents happened.
HTC finally decided to integrate the Super AMOLED matrix into its smartphone. Its diagonal is 4.3 inches, and the resolution is 960 by 540 pixels. Another killer argument in favor of One S when choosing between him and his competitors. Moreover, it is interesting that in the older model, for example, the SLCD-2 screen is installed, which, for all its advantages, still does not reach the displays based on organic LEDs.
As for the One S itself, all expectations were confirmed. Super AMOLED gives an excellent bright (sometimes even too much) picture, remains completely readable in bright sunshine (the sponsor of direct rays has finally arrived spring :) and provides close to maximum viewing angles.
The gadget is built on the basis of the Qualcomm MSM8260A chipset, which includes a dual-core ARM processor with a clock frequency of 1.5 GHz and Krait architecture, an Adreno 225 video chip, a gigabyte of RAM and 16 GB of main memory. There is no memory card slot, and 16 GB is quite a bit by today's standards, so HTC has entered into an agreement with Dropbox, where each user of One devices is given a couple of dozen free gigabytes.
The slot is for the SIM format micro, so before buying, you should preoccupy yourself with trimming or changing the card from the operator, otherwise it seems like the phone is already in your hands, but you can’t use it.
Naturally, all the necessary wireless modules are present. Wi-Fi supports n standard and DLNA streaming. Bluetooth version 4.0, which does not increase the data transfer rate, but it reduces power consumption.

Now the camera is something HTC can finally be proud of, because the pictures are really gorgeous! The F / 2.0 aperture and the backlight of the sensor seem to hint to us that there is more light on the matrix, which means that there is less noise in the dark, and with sufficient lighting, the pictures come out very bright and saturated.
The sensor resolution is 8 megapixels, autofocus is available, plus an LED flash with intelligent automatic control, which estimates the level of illumination of the scene, the distance to the object and almost does not overexposure. To start serial shooting, you don’t need to go into any settings, you just need to hold your finger on the shutter button - the gadget will start chirping them like an automaton.

As for the two-year “subscription”, I specifically found out on HTC: after this period, the files will not be deleted, and access to the data will not be frozen, only recording new information there will fail. The truth is the question arises: how will the service understand which of these gigabytes are personally mine, and which appeared after using the HTC smart. But they could no longer answer this question.
Otherwise, there is nothing unusual in terms of software. Of the pre-installed applications, I note, perhaps, only Polaris Office integrated with Dropbox, which greatly simplifies life, and notes that are automatically synchronized with the Evernote service. Well and still free SoundHound, yes.
I was pleasantly surprised, but the non-removable battery of the HTC One S with a capacity of 1650 mAh provides about 12 hours of operation in the “run out!” Mode. That is, a couple of email accounts in push mode, constantly on accounts in the jabber, an hour and a half of music in the subway, photos, photos -photochki (well, if the camera allows, then why not?), wandering around the Web, an hour of calls and all kinds of SMS messages. Either thanks you need to say to the Qualcomm chipset, or Android 4.0, or optimizers from HTC. Or everyone should take a pie from a shelf. It’s a pity that only the Taiwanese decided to join the thickness race ... so it would be possible to shove a more capacious battery. I would not break off walking with a centimeter smartphone instead of 7.8 mm at all.

There were powerful devices, there were “shovels,” but I don’t remember this from the time of the first Desire so that everything was so coolly balanced. Hardware stuffing, camera, software, services - all this time on top. Not that this height was unattainable (look, for example, on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus), but the combination of chips was verified very accurately: the gadget turned out to be stylish, powerful and functional at the same time. The price, of course, is not the lowest (while it is sold only in affiliate stores at a price of 24990), but I think this will change quite soon.
