Homeless in Texas Used as Mobile Hotspots

Texas-based marketing agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty organized an original promotion: free internet for residents of Austin via mobile hotspots that constantly move around the city. At the same time, the company found a way to reduce equipment transportation costs: they simply handed out 4G-to-WiFi routers to homeless residents of Austin. Those are constantly on the street, and their movements are perfectly suited to such work.

If someone wants to go online, just find the nearest homeless person nearby.

On the official website of the Homeless Hotspot project , the current coordinates of 13 hotspots are indicated. As you can see on the map, right now they are gathered in the city center.

“My name is Clarence, I'm a 4G hotspot. Send SMS to HH Clarence at 25827 for access. www.homelesshotspots.org ”, - such an inscription flaunts on the shirt of one of the Austin homeless people (see video ).

Homeless Hotspot is a charity project , and the organizers do not pursue any commercial goals. You can use the hotspot for free, but everyone can pay a symbolic amount, which the homeless has the right to keep for himself.
