Huawei at MWC 2012

On February 26, in Barcelona, Huawei introduced not one, but several Ascend devices at once. As we expected, the characteristics of the Huawei Ascend D Quad have changed a bit since the moment we got its prototype in our hands .

    Huawei Ascend D Quad

Firstly, like a month ago, there were two smartphones: the “regular” Ascend D Quad and Ascend D Quad XL. The names, of course, are confused, but they fully reflect the essence of the gadgets.

The first gadget (according to Huawei) is by far the most compact quad-core smartphone. At the same time, it is also the most powerful due to the fact that the quad-core processor of their own design is engaged in computing (hello Cap). Again, according to the president of the company, on average, the Ascend D Quad performs operations 49 percent faster than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The XL modification differs from the aforementioned device in a more capacious battery, which is why they were forced to make it slightly thicker than the standard one. 8.9 x 64 x 129 mm with the usual Ascend D Quad versus 10.9 x 64 x 129 mm with XL. Only two millimeters of difference, but the capacity was increased from 1800 mAh to 2500. I approve!

The rest of the gadgets are identical. Both have a screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a gigabyte of 64-bit RAM, an 8-megapixel camera (front - 1.3 mega), capable of recording Full HD video, a special noise reduction system Audience earSmart, DTS sound and full stuffing from wireless connections (3G, Wi-Fi b / g / n, Bleutooth 3.0).

The novelty will appear on sale somewhere in the beginning of summer at a price that is still unknown, but it is obvious that it will be lower than that of competitors, because so far Huawei cannot afford to break prices - the company needs to win the respect of consumers.

The Ascend D Quad scored on the Quadrant.

In addition to smartphones, Huawei also introduced a tablet. But there was a feeling that they showed him with obvious reluctance - it is obvious that he was still far from the start of sales, and they had to work hard on him.

At first, the booth-girl held the tablet in her hands and did not even let it turn in her hands, but as soon as the bulk of the journalists subsided, she heeded the prayers, and we still managed to record a short video about this gadget.

Externally, the gadget looks a lot like the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but its housing is made of aluminum, and inside there is a quad-core processor and two (if you believe the smiling Asian from the stand) gigabytes of RAM. The ten-inch display has a record resolution of Full HD, that is, 1920 x 1080.

The case has a pair of speakers, an eight-megapixel camera, a proprietary USB connector, as well as slots for SIM cards and micro-SD cards under the cap on the top end. The stub constantly fell off, but this, of course, is a bug of the sample that came to the exhibition.

The tablet is running the fourth Android ICS.

In general, this is all that we were officially told. Battery capacity, built-in memory, delivery time, price - all this is still covered in a veil of mystery. Knowing the speed with which the Chinese work, we can assume that they will have time to remake it several times clean :)
