Hard drive prices will remain high for a couple of years

After the catastrophic floods in Thailand and the associated destruction of the production infrastructure of many enterprises (including those involved in the production of hard drives), prices for hard drives (and not only them) began to rise. This was already written on Habré, but few people made predictions about how quickly prices for hard drives return to their previous mark, or at least become lower. Experts believe that this can happen no earlier than in two years.

Analyst Coughlin Associates has forecast for the next two years at the price of hard drives. According to experts, prices will return to their previous course at best by the summer of 2014. But even after this there may be leaps and shocks of this market. And of course, all this will be relevant only if something like this does not happen again in the near future.

Until now, some enterprises manufacturing hard drives remain destroyed, or do not function at full strength. As a result, there is a real stir in the hard drive market, as the product has become quite scarce. According to the above companies, prices for hard drives this year will be at the level of 20% -30% of the previous value. As the production and supply of hard drives begins to rise, prices will fall.

In the meantime, there has been a decrease in the level of supply of hard drives. Only in 2011, this figure decreased by 26%, compared to the same period in 2010. In addition, the price of a hard drive increased by about 28%. The hard drive market is recovering, but slowly enough - and it needs several years to fully recover. As you can see, so far only negative trends are observed.
