First mention of the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (3.4 GHz)

In April, the announcement of AMD's flagship processor, Phenom II X4 955, took place. The quad-core model received an X16 multiplier, which ensures its operating frequency of 3.2 GHz. Recall that the cache memory of this chip was 8 MB, in other words, L2 = 512 KB x 4 plus 6 MB L3. The TDP level did not exceed 125 watts. An interesting find was found on the website of the company ASRock.

In the "CPU Support List" section for processors in the performance of AM3, the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition model was registered. The specifications of the unannounced flagship are completely identical to those of the Phenom II X4 955. An exception is the operating frequency, which, thanks to the X17 multiplier, is increased to 3.4 GHz. It is likely that this model will appear along with the new IGP chipset for mid-range and budget categories platforms - AMD 785G.

It is clear that now you can absolutely easily get the pseudo Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition by increasing the multiplier of the Phenom II X4 955 processor from X16 to X17. What will be the price of new items at the time of its announcement is still unknown. AMD may shift the previous model one step down, or leave it in the same place and raise the price of the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition.
