AdSense and Google DoubleClick Link

When I created one of my web projects, the main monetization model for him was contextual advertising, and more specifically, Google Adsense . But there was one thing. About 25% of the project’s traffic falls on pages that are closed from indexing. And this means that the context will not spin there. Therefore, for such pages, I decided to use one of the banner-twisting engines. Those. The CMS site itself generates for different pages: either the AdSense code, or the banner twist code, in which the internal features of the project or some kind of advertisement will be advertised.
After reading about some engines, I settled on Google DoubleClick. And that's why. It allowed on “empty” banner displays (i.e. not purchased by the advertiser) to turn off AdSense ads. After reading about this, I thought that it would be great to make all the banner spaces on the project through DoubleClick - on occasion, you could sell all the banner traffic to the advertiser or sales house (well, you never know if there are any). So it was done. And while AdSense was in the old design, everything was fine: for each banner place created in DoubleClick in AdSense, a client channel appeared through which it was possible to track the statistics of contextual ads. But with the transition of AdSense to a new design, this possibility disappeared. Otherwise, working with DoubleClick completely suits me, so under the cut, I’ll tell you how to solve the problem after all.

For those who looked here I’ll say right away - the solution is quite simple, it was enough to understand the reporting capabilities of DoubleClick. But the main idea of the post is to introduce the reader to a convenient, in my opinion, combination of DoubleClick and AdSense. In the sense that if there is any hope of selling ad impressions someday, then you can immediately start working with DoubleClick.

So. The problem is that in your AdSense account, in the "Reports" - "Client channels" section, you will not see reports on the untwisted context in DoubleClick. In this case, the total income on the main page of the account will include them. But we are interested in detailed statistics: impressions and revenues for each contextual place. To do this, go to DoubleClick, open the "Reports" and click on "Ad units". This table opens before us.

The first three lines in it are statistics on those of my channels that are displayed on non-indexable pages and, accordingly, banners are spinning there. The last three are banner sites with 100% AdSense spins.

Such a bundle allows you to quietly twist contextual advertising, and if necessary - to display a banner instead. But this is just a small DoubleClick bun. As an engine for banner unwinding, it is very convenient and multifunctional. Unfortunately, there is nothing to compare, but it’s nice to work in it and everything is in the spirit of other Google products. All this economy is spinning successfully on my Telephone Directory .

UPD:By the way, as a link to the banner DoubleClick allows you to embed the usual url, not "picture". It was necessary, when advertising two browser plug-ins (for FireFox and Chrome), to display different banners in different browsers. DoubleClick was set against a regular controller, which, depending on the UserAgent, gave different banners with picture headers.

UPD2: They asked me in PM if DoubleClick began to support SSL. I have not tried it myself. But it seems that he became, such a proof was found .
