A look at the prototype smartphone on the Intel Medfield platform

    One of the world's largest manufacturers of computer processors, Intel , recently decided to succumb to the fashion trend and announced the launch of its own mobile platform, code-named Medfield . At CES , the first prototype smartphone running on this chip was introduced.



    The device was developed by Intel itself to demonstrate the capabilities of the Atom Z2460 (this is the main name of the processor) to potential manufacturers of gadgets. And already, really, there is something to show.

    The processor with a frequency of 1.6 GHz and support for Multithreading technology copes with a variety of tasks, including graphics processing. In particular, productive games are quickly loaded on the prototype, and photo and video processing is very quick (see video).

    Medfield is for Android devices . The first K800 smartphone using a chip has already been demonstrated by Lenovo. Let's see how comfortable  Intel will feel in the company of such giants of mobile processor engineering as Samsung, Qualcomm, Nvidia and Texas Instruments.
