Nokia has closed the acquisition of a developer of mobile OS Smarterphone

Recently it became known that the Finnish manufacturer of mobile devices, Nokia, has acquired a company engaged in the development of a new type of mobile OS. This mobile OS is called Smarterphone. It is interesting that the deal was completed last year, but it became known about it only now. Unfortunately, the transaction value is unknown. But some details about this OS are known.

So, it is intended exclusively for "advanced" mobile phones - not smartphones, namely mobile phones. Smarterphone, according to the developers, allows us to bring mobile phones closer to the segment of economy smartphones in terms of functionality. Accordingly, the cost of such advanced mobile phones will still be lower than the cost of a smartphone. All this is necessary in order to expand the segment of ordinary mobile phones from Nokia.

Smarterphone can do quite a lot of things - work with several SIM cards and interact with social services. In addition, this OS allows you to work with e-mail quite comfortably, and indeed, perform most of the tasks that only smartphones can handle now. With all this, the cost of the final product, that is, a mobile phone with this operating system, will be no more than 25-75 US dollars.

According to analysts, this operating system is intended to replace Symbian, an OS that was previously widely used in phones. Interestingly, now Nokia is focusing on the development of conventional mobile phones, which will be delivered to the so-called developing countries. Nokia is paying less attention to business smartphones, well, but the unit that produces Vertu has already been sold or is in a state of transfer to another company.
