Students from the University of Amsterdam (VU) play tetris with an optical tweeter

Apparently, the students of the Vrije Universiteit University from Amsterdam have a lot of free time, since these guys manage to play Tetris. At the same time, the game does not use game consoles, computer programs, or even an oscilloscope (some models of these devices allow you to play simple video games). No, the students decided to play Tetris with lasers at the microscopic level. Rather, it is not a laser that is used here, but an optical twizer (there is still the name "laser tweezers").

Students created a device that focuses the beam on a specific surface. In this case, the beam is a trap for the microparticles of the substance, they enter the focus, and can not leave. As a result, there is what it is - a game of tetris with microparticles. Well, starting the game again is quite simple - when you turn off the device, all the particles again begin to move freely, so there is no problem with starting a new level.

In general, this project does not have special scientific significance, perhaps the students just wanted to have fun. Not bad entertainment turned out.
