Coraline. The world is the other way around

Friends, with some periodicity I share with you the masterpieces of modern animation. Today I will tell you about a film that will brighten up your Friday night and drip balm on aesthetic wounds. “Coraline” lay for months on the nearest shelf, named: “Watch necessarily and urgently.” I was afraid not to feel it to the end, not to enjoy every frame, to lose my mood.
But then the earth flew into the celestial axis and I looked. This is an instructive story of one family, the central character of which is Coraline. The film was shot on the novel by Neil Gaiman (dude, by the way, is extremely versatile ). If we discard the plot, picture and conventions, then the essence boils down to the phrase: "no matter what your parents are, they are still your parents." But we will not discard them (: So, in detail.


The graphics of the film are very peculiar, you will not find such practically anywhere: neither in 3D films of pixar, nor in puppet cartoons of the USSR. Landscapes, interiors, heroes are unique and inimitable in their beauty. This is a very justified step on the part of Laika , and you will probably be very surprised to learn that in this film practically, there is no 3D and computer animation. He is a little more than completely puppet. The creators in the amount of five hundred people have done a giant job in modeling and animation. And the result, admittedly, is amazing - it turned out to be a self-sufficient, very beautiful cartoon.

And, of course, we are talking not only about the graphic component, but also about the scenes, the director’s incredible imagination, a kind of humor (the boy — a friend of Coraline’s name is Wyborn = WhyBorn) and the personality of each character. In general, by the way, in places the cartoon resembles Zhenya 's dystopia .
As it happens on such a large-scale projects, musical accompaniment delivers. The melody flows from beginning to end, almost without interruption - it is an organic thread of the narration, sets the mood for the stage and the audience.
Needless to say, I highly recommend watching the film in the original?

Coraline is a pretty scary movie. Even I was a little creepy. But I do not think that it will push someone away, rather, such a dose attracts and binds. You can also note the very non-childish voices of the heroes, both in the original voice acting and in translation. They seemed to be intentionally made coarser, but this move is not very clear to me.
Coraline has a speaking name - it’s not like it should be. She lives in a “gray” world: an uncomfortable house, a groomed yard, parents who are constantly busy and I can neither find time for her nor buy her such coveted colored gloves. She wants a fairy tale, wants change and finds in her room a door to that world that will give her all this. On the other side, mom, who cooks delicious cakes, gives presents, father, who plays the piano and devotes songs to her, a beautiful garden with flowers and fountains. But there is one catch - instead of the eyes of all buttons. And for the girl to remain in this world, she must sew buttons on herself. And in this world, all the neighbors turn into fantastically friendly and cheerful people.

But soon, this castle collapses, and Coraline learns terrible things about her new parents and understands how valuable her real, “not so attentive” father and mother are. On the one hand, this tale teaches us to love our parents (social advertising would be so unobtrusive), and on the other, everyone will see its meaning there. For example, I liked the idea that the girl bought all these gifts from a woman completely unlike her mother. Again, a lesson.
