SpaceX will develop a "space center of the future"

The SpaceX company in most cases successfully implements its projects, no matter how difficult they may seem. Now it became known about the next idea of ​​the leadership - expanding its presence at the Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX will increase the site, as well as build several additional objects on it, including a futuristic-looking control center.

In addition, the hangar will be increased. It will occupy an area of ​​about 12,500 square meters, and both missiles and their individual elements will be stored inside, including new and returned stages. Implementation of the modernization plan is planned for the near future.

All this is done for a reason . The main goal is more efficient work. For example, with the expansion of the hangar, employees of the company will be able to put in order at the same time several Falcon rockets returned to Earth. “As the frequency of rocket launches increases, we are looking for an opportunity to expand our presence at the Kennedy Space Center and make work more efficient,” said James Gleason, spokesman for the company.

In turn, the administration of the Kennedy Space Center supports this idea, since it, according to management, completely coincides with the intentions of the Center itself. And these intentions are to support the work of both state and private space companies, to support NASA and other organizations that are related to commercial or scientific astronautics.

The most outstanding (in every sense) structure on the SpaceX site will be the control tower. Its height will be about 90 meters, and at the very top there will be a flight control center. Sitting inside, the operators will control Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy and Dragon. In addition, there will also be rooms for meetings and negotiations, offices for engineers and scientists, a test stand and much more. A parking for 200 cars will be located near the tower (you could not even mention it, but by the number of slots you can judge the number of employees).

After the flight of the Falcon9 or Falcon Heavy rocket, steps that can be returned without damage will return to the hangar. There they will be able to promptly bring to a working state and put into operation again. As you know, Ilon Mask hopes that one stage will be able to be launched into space up to 100 times (with the condition of providing the necessary service).

Now SpaceX is planning to reduce the cost of launching a rocket due to the modularity of the rocket and the possibility of returning more elements - not just the launch stage. This will save, launching the already used elements of the rocket design again in the case.



Among other things, the company plans to create something like a museum - all “historically significant” rockets, their copies and other systems will be installed in this museum. Of course, the exhibits will be cleared of hazardous materials that pose a threat to human life and health.

The company was able to start paying more attention to other projects besides Falcon launch vehicles due to the fact that management now decided to focus on the Falcon 9 version, called Block 5. Until now, the company's engineers have been constantly working on improving the rocket design. Now all the main goals have been achieved, they have learned to return the level without any problems and damage, which means that it is possible to direct the team’s efforts in a different direction. If the need arises, SpaceX will be able to change something in the current design, but the main efforts and resources are already directed at solving other problems and achieving other goals.

It remains to hope that the company will cope with the tasks. She already has a lot of plans, and if we take into account the rigid plan for launching launch vehicles (for which you need to prepare), then there are more fears about new projects than it could be. Of course, Ilon Musk is capable of miracles, but he is still not a wizard, but an ordinary person.
