The "bright" future of wireless technology
The widespread development of telecom is an obvious trend of the beginning of the 21st century.
There are 1.4 million base stations and more than 5 billion mobile phones in the world, wireless communications penetrate all aspects of life, and this process will only intensify in the foreseeable future.
But now - there, on the horizon, the fundamental boundaries of the current level of technology are visible:
Harald Haas promises to extract 10Mbit / s from an ordinary three-dollar lamp. And considering that today 14 billion lamps illuminate our planet - the infrastructure is almost ready.
And although an ordinary curtain will be a serious obstacle to such a connection, such "scientific tricks" cannot but bewitch.
There are 1.4 million base stations and more than 5 billion mobile phones in the world, wireless communications penetrate all aspects of life, and this process will only intensify in the foreseeable future.
But now - there, on the horizon, the fundamental boundaries of the current level of technology are visible:
- Exhaustibility - frequency resources are limited;
- Efficiency - most of the energy is spent on cooling equipment;
- Accessibility - the ability to cover the entire territory of the planet with mobile communications is a big question;
- Data transfer security is a very serious problem, the relevance of which will increase with each turn of technological progress and the increase in the volume of financial (and not only) resources flowing over wireless networks.
