inmile.com - second launch
A few months ago, I presented my inmile.com geolocation service to the readers of Habr , having received excellent feedback (thoughts, bugs, criticism), I sat down to redo it and modify it.
The service did not work for three months (it was closed), and now I open it for beta testing.
Naturally, the first people who want to talk about this are habrozhiteli, because it was their ideas and comments that became the starting point for processing.
For those who have not seen the first launch, I’ll tell you about the idea of the project - a user who visits the site is positioned on a map and can see people around him within a mile radius and talk to them.
This is very interesting in the sense that we are often surrounded by people with whom we are unfamiliar for years - working in a nearby office center, living in the nearest courtyard, etc.
In the new version, the idea has remained almost the same, but much has changed:
- a mile wall was added (there was only a chat);
- places appeared (restaurants, cinemas) surrounding you;
- points nearby (meetings, questions about facilities, Wi-Fi);
- filters and search for all this wealth;
- the ability to move to the specified address (rather than dragging yourself on the map);
- the ability to check in places;
- create points and places;
- internal mail;
- privacy settings ;
- much more in the interface and functionality.
Chat and wall
Wherever you are, there is always a chat and a wall of the surrounding territory, with which you can communicate, ask questions, coordinate people.
Chat is designed for faster and easier real-time communication. A wall is a calmer tool aimed at more thoughtful communication.
The people around you can be seen both on the map and in the list below it. By the way, people can now be sorted by the date they visited the area.
Places around
Switching the tab, you can see the places (and in the next tab - the points) that surround you now, sort them by type if there are too many of them.
Something like this, the picture will look for Dmitry Anatolyevich, go to inmile : The
map now can expand to the entire width of the site, and the sampling area can be changed from one mile, three or five.
You can change your location, add to bookmarks.
You can create a new place or point, while - you can either specify a point on the map manually, or by entering the address of the establishment (the system will determine the coordinates by address).
Inside, a place is a page where you can chat with its visitors, ask questions, put a rating and leave your opinions about the place.
To appear in the list of visitors for today, you need to check in at this place.
Search
Search works on people, places, points and addresses. For example, in a search by address, you can not only find a place on the map that corresponds to the address, but also transfer yourself there and then chat with people who are there.
Privacy settings
Most of all, last time, the inhabitants of Habr wanted privacy settings in order to protect themselves from maniacs, curious, ex-girls, deanery and military registration and enlistment office.
In the new version, privacy settings have appeared, and will be finalized until a complete victory over the circle of the above persons.
Already there is an opportunity - to prohibit showing you on the map (through the settings or unchecking “I see” under the map) and in the list of avatars. There is a “Clear All” button that erases the entire existing history of your appearances. Added the function “Clear all on exit”, which works similar to a button, but cleans everything every time you log out.
In the near future several more options will appear, including:
- Make me completely invisible and inaccessible to the selected user;
- Do not display me in people search;
- Prevent me from writing messages (in general / to individuals);
- Show the list of places in which I checked in the last day. With the ability to edit it.
The inmile.com service is still in beta, errors and glitches are possible, please report them in PM or at pavel.knx@gmail.com.
I tried to test in all browsers that I was able to install, but there may be some problems in specific versions of browsers.
In the near future some more interesting features will be added. Next week, a mobile version for Android and iPhone devices will be launched, which is lighter and more convenient.
