Envision introduced the Evo 2 game console on Android

The Android mobile operating system is becoming increasingly popular - from tablets and smartphones, it is slowly moving to other types of devices. The other day, Envision introduced the Evo 2 game console, the software platform for which is just Android OS 2.2. The console itself is a kind of entertainment center, and is hardly a competitor to giants such as the Xbox 360 and PS3. You can play Evo 2 only in games developed for Android (hello again, Angry Birds). In principle, under Android there are quite a few emulators of ordinary game consoles, so it won’t be boring.
According to the developers, EVO 2 is the next version of the EVO console, which was introduced a couple of years ago and worked on Linux. Then the project simply died, and no one was able to appreciate the benefits of an "open" gaming platform. Now the situation is slightly different - the project is actively developing, and the final cost of the product, as well as the release date, is already known. The price of the Evo 2 is $ 250, and the console is due out this fall. By the way, the EVO 2 SDK for developers is available on the site for only $ 149.

It is already possible to make a reservation, if anyone is eager to get this device. The kit will include the console itself, an HDMI cable, and a game controller.
The configuration of the device, of course, is not particularly impressive: 512 MB DDR2, a processor operating at a frequency of 1.2 GHz (by the way, a processor from Samsung). The size of the device is 170 * 111 * 30 mm. There is no other configuration information yet, except for information that the company is going to release something like Microsoft Kinect as well.
In order to expand the functionality of its device, Envizions company is working on creating a cloud service where user files will be stored.
