Sony Ericsson has announced a new generation of Xperia mini

The past generation of mini has gained popularity due to the fact that they provided the functionality of full-fledged smartphones in a very compact body. The new minks adhere to the same concept, only at the current level:
- 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
- Android Gingerbread 2.3
- and other features, including multi-touch, best-in-class Mobile BRAVIA Engine image output processing technology and HD 720p video recording.
The camera - 5 MP with autofocus, the function of "capture" the moment of a smile and a full gentlemanly set of options (8x digital zoom, autofocus, face recognition, flash, geo-tags, image stabilization and red-eye removal).

A nice bonus: the screen diagonal increased from 2.6 "(which was still not enough) to 3", and the resolution increased to 320 x 480 against 240 x 320 pixels before. So now it is really a full-fledged, only compact, smartphone.
The dimensions increased slightly: 88x52x16 mm for mini and 92x53x18 mm for mini pro versus 83x50x16 mm and 90x52x17 mm for old mini and mini pro, respectively. Weight - 94 and 136 grams.
Externally, as you can see in the image, mini is designed in the style of the previous model, while maintaining the continuity of generations:

It can be seen in the photo that the “interface of angles” that was used on the previous generation (when the icons of the main applications were placed at the corners of the screen, allowing more efficient use of its space and pressing them with the thumb of the same hand in which the phone lies) has undergone changes. On the new mini in the corner of the screen you can already group several icons that, when pressed, fan out:

As always, the pro model will have a compact sliding keyboard (from the keyboard of the “firmware” of the current generation that I visited last year , I had very good impressions : separate convex keys exclude the possibility of accidental pressing of several buttons and allow you to type text to the touch). They are not looking for good from good, so it has not changed much:

Whether it has become more convenient - the test will show, but for now Sony Ericsson has made it smarter in order to save the user from unnecessary actions in the main usage scenarios - when working in email, with contacts and in the browser. So, with open mail, the keys for quick reply or transition to the next letter, creating a new letter will work, and by pushing the clave when the contact list or browser is open, the focus will automatically move to the search / enter address field.
Another difference of mini pro is the presence of a front-facing camera that allows you to conduct video conferences or acts as a mirror (a removable pink lid is no accident):

The exact prices will become known closer to the start of sales. And of course I’ll do a review of the new product right away, as the first samples arrive in Russia. So subscribe to our blog, and you will be the first to know ;-)
