Overview of Motorola Milestone 2

Milestone 2 (aka Droid 2) is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and elegant Android phones.

The device is made in the form factor of a side slider with touch control and is aimed primarily at people who stubbornly do not want to part with physical keyboards. Milestone 2 can be considered as one of the main competitors of HTC Desire Z.
    And now a little more.

What is in the box ??

The package turned out to be the following:

    - Communicator
    - USB cable
    - 8GB MicroSDHC card
    - Charger with adapter
    - Headphones
    - Paper

The first time you turn it on, the phone will prompt you to set up your MotoBlur account. The main emphasis in it is placed on integration with social networks (Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, LinkedIn, Last.FM, Picasa, Flickr and others).

The main drawback of MotoBlur is that you cannot refuse it. You just cannot miss it, nor can you use email without using MotoBlur.
Another issue with MotoBlur is speed. It would seem that the device is equipped with a powerful 1GHz processor, but there are occasional slowdowns on simple things, such as unlocking the screen.

    Appearance

The first thing that catches your eye is a bright 3.7-inch display (although not AMOLED), which does not fade in sunlight. The viewing angles are excellent.

The edging of the display is made “chrome”, the sidewalls are metallic, painted in dark blue “metallic”, as is the back cover. The case is made qualitatively does not creak anywhere.

Under the display, there are four touch buttons typical of the Android platform. Search, return, menu and home keys. They are quite sensitive.

Above the display is a speaker surrounded by proximity sensors and a light sensor.

At the top is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a button to turn on / off / unlock the screen.

The back of the device is rubberized. Here is the speaker, camera and flash.

A 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and a dual LED flash, 4x digital zoom, HD 720p video recording from 24 to 30 frames per second.
It takes good pictures in the afternoon, but it’s better not to remember about it in low light. The back of the first generation Milestone, changes are minor.

    Keyboard

    Entering text is generally convenient.
Although at first I did not like it, but after a few days I got used to it and actually prefer it instead of the screen. The keyboard is backlit, making entry in the dark possible.
An indisputable minus is the lack of a Russian layout.

    Total

The impression of Milestone 2 remained very positive. It saddens the fact that it will not appear on sale with us, which means you can’t count on keyboard localization.

    Minuses:

    - No FM (activation www.youtube.com/watch?v=lern-dFDLxA EXL hint )
    - The camera could have been better.
    - The graphical shell of MotoBlur only slows down the communicator.
    - A weak battery, although this is the norm for devices of this class = \
    - Updating Androida will probably come soon.

    Pros:

    - Great appearance, compact size, solid construction.
    - 8GB of internal memory
    - Remarkable retractable keyboard
    - Good performance
    - 720p video recording
