“Whole Life”: is this your coaching again?
“I am accelerating at 16, The
Dawn farm is accelerating ,
My country is accelerating ...” I
recalled from the Lube.
Since you are reading this blog, you must have come across them. Coaches, trainers of personal effectiveness, whatever you call them - thousands of them, dubious middle-aged uncles, who organize seminars in provincial cultural houses and spamming with offers to go through the Six Simple Steps to Awareness.
Eco I scolded them! But because they are angry. Not only do loafers and charlatans themselves, they also undertake to learn. He himself was not, they said: “500 people are sitting in the hall and chorus say:“ I believe in myself ... I believe in myself ... my strength is my wealth “”. Remember " Always Say Yes " with Jim Carrey? I recommend: the topic is very competently disclosed.
In a word, Ostap Ibrahimovic is not on them, with his immortal "don’t teach me how to live, better help me financially."
And on the other hand, the thing is necessary. A mature, experienced person, with the appropriate knowledge and the desire to direct, help, suggest, through some internal “plugs” to drag the scruff of his neck - go and go! The spiritual father or the guru there, you understand, is not suitable for everyone. But I want to understand life, since it’s your own, only one and inexorably moves to the end.

In my hands the book "Power of Focus", in the Russian version - "Demon Whole Life"The authors are condo, professional coaches. However, the track record inspires respect: it flashes Sony, Virgin, CNN, Time, etc. Nevertheless, the temptation to quickly flip through and put this book on the farthest shelf would prevail, if not for the annotation:
“Wow,” I think, “that's a completely different conversation.” Nevertheless, I decided to read it, it took about a week and a half, based on the chapter a day on the way to work.
“Whole life” teaches you to set goals and achieve them, thereby filling your life with taste and meaning. 10 strategies, 10 lessons with exercises at the end of each. Moreover, the entire sphere of human activity is covered: it is written about the power of habits, and about relationships with others, and about maintaining balance, and how to choose these very goals, so as not to be halfway upset.
That this book is a big plus - all the tips are practical, practical. There is no stupid self-hypnosis a la "I am capable, I will achieve." Of course, the proposal to write your goal on a piece of paper and put it in a prominent place sounds rather pathetic, but if it helps to distract from some garbage and get back to work - why not?
Another thing is that I did not find anything new for myself. Either I’ve read it somewhere (in particular, in the excellent book “ Life at Full Power ” of the same publishing house “MIF”), or I knew it at the level of elementary common sense.
I would give this book to a young guy who enters the world of adults - or just entered and feels stunned by the variety of opportunities, conventions and nuances. It will not hurt a more mature person, who gets confused in the life of no less than a young man, just got used to it. Well, and those who laid out everything that is possible on the shelves and spar to success - quite possibly, will be inspired and refresh something in memory.
PS There is a version that all this "self-development" is a complete nonsense - they say, you need to work hard and live as it is, and everything will be OK. I tried: very soon you ask yourself “what the hell is this?”, The soul asks for food ... As in the song: “I drank C 2 H 5 OH, sat on Rostselmash Niva ...”. The result may be sad.
Book page on the website of Mann, Ivanov and Ferber Publishing House(there are excerpts in PDF, a selection of reviews)
The official website of the book (in English)
Reviews on Amazon and Goodreads on average give the book 4 + / 5 - the general tone is “useful, but trite”.

“Books calling for a meaning in life usually repel realistic and practical people with abstract ideas. Is it possible to think of some high life goal, when your house is not tidied up, you need to take the car for repair and the dog is not fed ?! ”
