Yota will open its LTE network to Beeline, Megafon, MTS and Rostelecom
Yota has signed an agreement with the largest telecom operators: Beeline, Megafon, MTS and Rostelecom - on the development of LTE in Russia. Communication services in the LTE standard may be available as early as 2011. And by 2014, the network will cover more than 180 cities in Russia. The agreement was concluded at the Yota Moscow office in the presence of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. According to the document, the parties to the transaction will have access to the infrastructure of the 4th generation mobile network and options for the purchase of shares in Yota at the market price in 2014.
The principles of cooperation are based on ensuring equal access to the common infrastructure of all parties to the transaction, which will allow operators to reduce investment in the construction of LTE networks and significantly reduce costs. This will lead to increased competition among operators, the emergence of new services and lower prices for basic services for consumers.
“Everyone benefits from signing the agreement, and above all, the Russian consumer. Today's agreements embody a new image of the future of telecommunications, built on the separation of infrastructure and client business of telecom operators. I am happy that our vision of the development of the industry is shared by its main players, ”commented Denis Sverdlov, CEO of Yota Group.
